Bus from Siem Reap to Bangkok

[ad_1]

Going by bus from Siem Reap to Bangkok is undoubtedly the cheapest option but not the fastest. You can buy the ticket at any hotel and the price is $ 13 (year 2013) and, even though they say it takes 8 hours, you finally need 10 or 12 hours to get to Bangkok for retention and waiting at the border.

Normally the ticket includes hotel pick-up in a van that will take you to the border. There they put some colored stickers on you and tell you where you have to go when crossing the border. The journey here is about 3 hours.

After the sticker you have to go to the line to pass the passport control and be patient as there are usually many people and the subject goes slowly.

Once the exit stamp is stamped, you go through a “no man’s land” … where there is a hotel? And after about 50 meters you have passport control to enter Thailand. Here, of course, the queues are just as long as on the other side, even longer.

In total I was 2 hours from when we arrived until I entered Thailand. The problem is waiting for all of us who are going to go in the minibus to get together. In total it was almost 2 hours. I carried provisions and was able to eat while we waited, although later, once a group had gathered, they took us in a van to another place where we had to continue waiting, but this time it was a restaurant and there was plenty of time to eat.

The minibus was very comfortable and air-conditioned, making two stops in places with clean bathrooms. When you arrive in Bangkok, you will ask in which area you want to stay, within your route, so it is convenient to know what is the area of our hotel so that, when you arrive around 8 at night, you do not have to waste a lot of time crossing the city.

When you travel by taxi or private bus, you save almost two hours, which are those of waiting until the company is making a group. But the price difference is very big since they ask for $ 50 to $ 80. I would certainly repeat the bus journey!
