Accommodation in Cambodia, where to sleep in Siam Reap and Phnom Penh

Cambodia, as in the rest of the Southeast Asian countries, has a wide variety of accommodation, for all tastes and all budgets. Staying in this country is really cheap, and the quality-price combination is usually quite tight.

During our trip through Vietnam Y Cambodia, we visit one of the most incredible places in the world, the Temples of Angkor. They are located very close to the city of Siam Reap, which was our first stop in the Khmer country.

Accommodation in Siam Reap

As I mentioned above, the accommodation in Siam Reap it’s very diverse. While it is true, although the prices are somewhat higher than in other places in Cambodia. This is basically due to the large influx of tourism. Staying in a correct accommodation can cost around $ 25-30 for a double room.

When we landed in the city, a taxi took us to the city center, which is where most of the accommodations are located. After walking around the area, we looked at a hotel that caught our attention from the outside.

So we went in, asked for the price, and they showed us the room they had available. It seemed to us that it was within what we were looking for, both price and condition. Clean and spacious, with a full bathroom just for us. The place in question is Tan Kang Angkor Hotel.

Accommodation in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh was a place that pleasantly surprised us. Unlike Siam Reap, Phnom Penh was a stop on the way to fly to Vietnam, in this case the south, the Mekong Delta.

Most of the accommodation in Phnom penh concentrates on Preah Sisowath Street. This street is very close to the port and the Royal Palace, is parallel to the Tonle Sap River, a tributary of the Mekong. So, you can always look for an accommodation with beautiful views of the river, and enjoy a sunset that is very worthwhile.

We choose the Hotel River Star. It was very good, and the best of all were the views of the river, a luxury. The location was also perfect, since it allows you to reach the most important sites of the city in a pleasant walk.
