With more than 7,000 tropical islands, the Philippines is the second largest archipelago on the planet, behind neighboring Indonesia. Located far from other popular Southeast Asian destinations, it’s a bit off the beaten track. Not that the Philippines is without great attractions. Palm-fringed beaches, some of Asia’s best diving and snorkeling activities, breathtaking volcanoes and the eerie wonders of the Chocolate Hills and Banaue Rice Terraces. The Philippines, the largest Catholic country in Asia, is also a country of different cultures, a mixture of hundreds of ethnicities and foreign influences that offers a unique and surprising travel destination.
